A Call to Action
I strongly believe we need to take care of the world we live in. It won’t sustain us forever and I’m heartbroken over the lack of respect for living things that runs rampant all across the globe. All of the organizations listed here are causes I support and am extremely passionate about, and they all revolve around these convictions. Please take the time to visit them for yourself to get an idea of the outstanding work they do. I urge you to get involved in some way—if not monetarily, then as an advocate. Write letters to help influence various legislation, host events to raise awareness, or simply advertise these causes on your blogs and social media pages. Anything and everything helps.
I stand behind two quotes wholeheartedly:
1. “Preach the Gospel always, and when necessary, use words.” –Attributed to St. Francis of Assisi (sources vary)
This quote applies to everything in life, not just faith. The point is not that words aren’t important. What we preach in life does matter, but actions speak louder. People hear words all the time. We live in a world full of all talk and no show. The action is what matters and is what inspires others. We need to show love to people and our environment by taking action, not by simply running our mouths.
2. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” –Gandhi
Look around you. Everything that moves you, everything you’re passionate about, anything that stirs empathy in you—all of it is within your reach in some way and you’re passionate about it for a reason. You may be one voice, but one voice is better than a silent one. Instead of just talking about the problems in the world, do something about them, no matter how insignificant you feel your efforts might be.
Love is Contagious
Love is a universal language and when others see you living it out, they want to know more about it and how they can experience it for themselves. This is what promotes change and brings it to action. Be an inspiration.
